Sturgeon looks at annexation

A scoop of property rights and a cup of annexation were part of the recipe for the July 24 meeting of the Sturgeon Board of Aldermen.

The evening started with a continuation of last month’s discussion with local car salesman Larry Brink.

Brink had apparently gone ahead and put a garage door that opened onto Sturgeon’s main thoroughfare with the intent of driving cars across the downtown sidewalk into his garage.

According to Sturgeon mayor Gene Kelly, the work was done without a permit and completed without inspection by a Boone County building inspector, and Kelly was concerned.

Brink was not. “I’m somebody who pays taxes,” Brink said to the aldermen. “I don’t understand, don’t you have anything better to do?”
