R-VI board takes Bennett’s resignation: approves first step for bond refunding
The Centralia R-VI school board held their monthly meeting at the Intermediate School library on Monday night.
After approving the district’s January payroll, renewing the Missouri United School Insurance and renewal of the OPAA contract, two presentations were given.
Terry Hunt and Derrick Clithrow represented IMS Paperless Solutions. IMS of Mexico is a information and file management company.
They proposed a three-project system that would index and digitize the school district’s files and important information. The areas covered would be the school board information, student transcripts and HR records.
As an example, a student’s transcript from the 1970s or 1960s could be retrieved in a very short period of time compared to searching through boxes and file cabinets, as it would have to be done now.
The board questioned the security of the system and the IMS representatives indicated that access to any files could be managed by an individual’s right to view certain material. The board would set these classifications.
The board agreed that something needs to be done to handle the growing amount of material. Superintendent Darin Ford stated that the district could start with baby steps and add more systems later.
