Centralia Library sets new election date

The Centralia Public Library has a date. A date, that is, for a vote on the ballot issue for their proposed 25-cent operating levy increase. The library’s board of trustees has decided to wait until April 2014 to ask for the voters’ approval. “More people will be going to the polls in April,” said Patt Olsen, library director.  “Also we will be able to share the cost of the election.

    Over 30 minutes, the pint-sized lunch tables and caramel-colored folding chairs in the Chance Elementary School cafeteria gradually filled. The estimated 79 future Centralia R-VI kindergarten students and their parents or guardians were there for the annual Parents as Teachers event “Kindergarten Here We Come.” The visitors, split into classroom-sized groups and guided by a parent-educator toured the school with 10-minute long stops in various rooms.
