Alliance Foam marks 10 years

A local employer has marked its 10th anniversary.

A decade or so ago, the owner-operators of what became Alliance Foam Technologies stood before the Centralia Board of Aldermen and asked the city to sponsor them for a Community Development Block Grant.

From that moment, Alliance Foam Technologies became part of the Mid-Missouri community of businesses.

The trio had found a business niche and set out to exploit it. On their web site, they explain what the staff of 15 does at the 76,000 square-foot factory off Hwy. 22 between Centralia and Sturgeon.

“Lost foam casting is a type of evaporative-pattern casting process that originated in the 1950s.  A foam pattern is used to form a mold.  Molten metal is then poured into the molding cavity, which burns off  the foam (the foam is ‘lost’).
