Baby show, pageants, at Sturgeon high school
Music, carnival, rodeo, demolition derby and tractor pull, pick your flavor of entertainment, it is likely coming to Sturgeon this week and next when the Boone County Fair arrives.
Fair Board Chairman Jeff Cook and Fair manager Frankie Anderson said this year’s Boone County Fair has a lot to be excited about.
While the fair does not formally open until 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 17 at the Sturgeon Fairgrounds, fair fans can get a taste this weekend.
Friday, 5 p.m., July 13 the gates open at the Sturgeon’s fair grounds for the first night of the Old Glory Rodeo.
The rodeo begins 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday. Saturday’s rodeo includes a street dance from 10 p.m. to midnight, featuring the music of Phil Vandel. “We’re pretty excited about Phil,” Cook said. “He’s pretty popular and has gotten some radio play.”
The fair parade will roll down Sturgeon’s main street 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14. Float lineup, Anderson said, is 9 a.m. at the Sturgeon Recreation Center. Henry Semon is the parade grand marshal.
Additionally, the fair will host Family Fun Night, starting 5 p.m., Monday July 16 at the fairgrounds.
