Good weather made for a good fair.
That could have been the mantra for many a member of the Centralia Fair Board during the week of July 4.
That was when the Centralia Fairgrounds was home to the annual Centralia 4-H Youth Fair.
“We had a significant crowd this year,” said one of the fair’s organizers, Kara Stowers. “The truck and tractor pull Friday night filled the stands and we had a fantastic turnout for the baby and beef shows.”
An added plus, she said, is for the first time in several years they were able to host a horse show, “which always draws a loyal crowd and dedicated competitors. It was good to have it again after several years of weather cancellations.”
Speaking of horses, Stowers said visitors did miss the State Farm stick horse rodeo and hoped to bring it back next year.
One plus of the dry weather, she said was easier parking. “At the beef show the ground was solid enough everybody was able to park their trailers, leaving more room in the barns.”
