The Centralia Parks Department has scheduled opening day at the golf course of the former Centralia Golf and Social Club, now called the Centralia Community Golf Course.
The fairways have been mowed, the greens trimmed and the clubhouse cleaned.
Members of the Centralia High School Golf team have volunteered to pick up sticks and shovel gravel.
Phil Hulen of the golf course steering committee, which includes, Hulen, Mike Kinkead, Richard Dickerson, Ethan Massey, Denny Rusch, Gary Werkmeister and Gretchen Spires, said the course’s opening day is 7:30 a.m., Saturday, May 4.
But interested parties can get a preview of the course sooner than that.
The committee is hosting a course open house, 1-6 p.m., Sunday, April 28.
“This is an opportunity to come on out and see what your course looks like now,” Hulen said. “There will be no golf during the open house, but we will have carts available for people to drive around on our freshly graveled cart paths. And it’s an opportunity to sign up for a membership, individual or family and check out our golfer-friendly green fees.”
