defense’s athleticism and the offense’s play-calling.

“I was pleased,” Jim Newsted, head coach of the Centralia Panthers football team said afterward as fans filed out of the stands and into the parking lot. “I was really pleased with our number one defense. That was their first scrimmage. I really liked their effort and how they got on the ball.”

Newsted said it was good shake-out cruise for the coaches too. “It helps them bond with the players and get a better feel for their squads.”

He said there were some things that might need work and more would occur to him as he watched the film of the 12 plays the Panthers performed between midnight and 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.

He also saw some good action offense, Newsted said. “This was their third scrimmage and I thought they did a good job. “Their first time under the lights and I thought it went fine.
