Centralia Wrestling Club medals 10 at State

The Centralia Wrestling Club made a splash at this year’s Missouri youth wrestling championships.

The 80-member club qualified 17 wrestlers for the state tournament this year. The team is coached by Dwain Shelton and assistant coaches Johnny Adkisson, Clint Dubes, Nick Bryson, Brenda Baker, Clayton Crump, Tim Gilbert, Eric Ward, Dustin Griffin. “This ties our club record for the most CWC wrestlers we’ve qualified for state,” The state wrestling tournament was held at HyVee Arena in Kansas City March 9 – 10. “We had 10 state medalists and as a club we placed sixth overall in team points out of 145 teams,” Shelton said.

Additionally, Centralia’s Head Coach Dwain Shelton was voted District 7’s coach of the year.

The club is open to children kindergarten through eighth grade.
