The occasion was the renewed Cornerstone Baptist Church Community Christmas Dinner.

A handful of people worked together to revive a tradition started around a decade ago by the Ron and Carol Beard family and friends.

More than 50 people sat in the church’s sanctuary enjoying warmth, fellowship and Christmas cheer.

After a two-year hiatus while the church searched for and found a new home, the tradition has returned to Centralia.

Vanya Love, Catena Beard, Carol Beard and Louise Lawson stood together in the kitchen ladeling plates full of ham, turkey, green beans, mashed potatoes and other holiday staples.

A row of tables almost as long as the church, covered one wall and offered a galaxy of desserts.
