Almost a dozen people crowded into the Chester Boren Middle School’s counselor’s office the evening of January 30.

Pink cloth Centralia Women’s Network bags alternated with white plastic National Guard bags.

They were stuffing the bags, 34 of  them, for students at Champion Academy, Centralia’s elementary, middle intermediate and high-school as well.

CYC2 coordinator Lisa Matthiesen recently obtained a pallet holding 112 boxes of donations from Unilever Jefferson City which she and other volunteers stuffed into the bags for students who might need a little  help at home.

CBMS counselor Trisa Redington’s table was covered with bottles of body wash, shampoo, conditioner, skin lotion, along with packs of toothpaste, toothbrushes, body scrubbers, bundles, brushes, combs, deodorant and packages of socks.

Besides the bags, Matthiesen said, the women’s network also donated $200, and said they would be willing to make ongoing donations to keep the project going.”
