It was sweet morning at Chance Elementary School.
That was when nearly 200 students, parents and friends visited the Chance Elementary School cafeteria to enjoy doughnuts.
“It’s a decades old tradition,” said CES Principal Tiffani Shuman. “It provides parents a positive experience,” agreed Emily Erisman, CES counselor. “Any time we can provide a positive experience that brings people into the school it is a win for education.”
Not only does the event give the students an opportunity to show off their work after breakfast via a quick post-doughnut tour, but, Shuman said, it is also an opportunity for the students to show off their parents, their role-models. “And it is nice to put names to faces,” Schumann said. “Out of the 330 or so students here, during parent teacher days, I probably only get to meet 100.”
