They met in the Centralia High School library, all 38 dressed in their Sunday best.
There were seven seniors and 31 juniors.
They were the newest members of the Prairie Queen Chapter of Centralia’ High School’s National Honor Society.
After instructions and photos, they quietly filed down the hall to the cafeteria where around 100 family members, friends, NHS sponsors and officers awaited them.
As the inductees sat in the first two rows of folding chairs, the chapter’s four officers; Jayden Bennett, president; Lynsie Curtis, vice-president; Scarlett Fox, secretary; and Zane Stone, treasurer, began the induction ceremony which included the lighting of four candles signifying NHS’ four guiding criteria.
