The Centralia Panther’s dominated the field of 13 teams at the Highway 13 Husker Throw-Down
Wrestling Tournament hosted by Lafayette County C-1 in Higginsville Saturday, January 26 by scoring 202 team points –well ahead of Knob Noster’s 2nd place (187.5 pts) and Sherwood’s 3rd place finish (153 pts). CHS advanced eight wrestlers into the tournament finals earning two tournament Champions and six runners-up. Duke Newsted (126) and Quentin Foster (182) each won their respective weight classes. Newsted garnered a spot in the finals on the strength of two wins by fall and an 11-0 major decision before pinning Logan Hernandez of Knob Noster in 1:30. Foster’s route to the finals came by way of two pins and an 8-0 major decision – including avenging an earlier season loss to Macon’s Augustus Davis by pinning Davis in 2:00.
