The Hallsville varsity Indians finished the regular season with their seventh consecutive win by downing the Sturgeon Bulldogs, 12-1, in a mercy-rule shortened game at Sturgeon High School.

Hallsville pounded out 12 hits while Brandon Vincent stymied the Bulldogs for their first three at-bats allowing one earned run on three hits and one walk and striking out four. Zane Parnell pitched the final two frames gunning down five Sturgeon batters.
Jess Roberts started for Sturgeon, Jake Snider relieved him in the third and Blake Bailey in the fifth.
The Indians scored four times to open the game with the first four batters reaching base on two bases-on-balls to Alex Wimer and Tanner Beatty followed by RBI singles from Zane Burkett and Parnell.
One out later designated hitter, Ethan Thompson drove in another with his single.
Hallsville scored single runs in the 3rd and 4th innings before the bats exploded in the fifth. The Indians crossed the plate six times on five hits including two doubles and a triple.

Wimer’s RBI-double off the bottom of the leftfield wall was followed by Beatty’s run-scoring triple to centerfield. Later Cooper Crane added a two-RBI single and Thompson finished off the scoring with a two-run double.
Hallsville ends the regular season with a 16-4 mark while Sturgeon falls to 3-11. The Indians have a few days off from competition awaiting the start of post-season play where they are seeded #1 in the Montgomery Co. District 7 of Class 3. Hallsville will face the winner of Centralia and Bowling Green who open the tournament on Saturday at noon. The winner takes on the Indians at 4:30 next Monday.
Final action for the season for the JV and C teams is today at Blair Oaks beginning at 5pm.
Sturgeon starts districts this Friday in Cairo against Salisbury.
