Hallsville High School Quiz Bowl brings home big wins!

On Saturday, the HHS Quiz Bowl team competed in the MOQBA Fall Championship tournament at Columbia College. This is one of the more challenging competitions because it attracts very competitive teams from around the state and also the question set is written by players from Harvard University.

Both  A and B teams qualified for the playoffs after the morning preliminary rounds. The A team went 10-2 on the day and lost to St. Joseph Central in the championship game. They were however crowned as the Small School Champion for being the highest placing small school at the tournament. To qualify for Small School status you must have less than 500 students in grades 10-12.

The B team finished in 8th place for the day. Even though the C team, consisting of four freshmen,  didn’t qualify for the playoffs, they finished the day 5-5 among a very competitive field.

Individually, HHS had 4 players finish in the top 15: Samuel Lockwood #2, Lauren Blakemore #8, Emma Crocker #12 and Colton Hough #15.
