Andrew Van Hulten is the new chief of the Hallsville Police Department.
That was one of the outtakes from the August 27 meeting of the Hallsville Board of Aldermen.
Van Hulten, who has served with the department for around a year, including a stint as interim chief, came out ahead of six other applicants and was one of two finalists the board of aldermen interviewed.
He previously served as a Military Police Officer with the armed forces for nine years before graduating from the Law Enforcement Training Institute. He joined the Hallsville Police Department in 2017.
