The Centralia Cheetahs Youth Cross Country team will be well represented at the Cross Country Coaches
National Youth Championship meet on Saturday, November 17 at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Louisville, KY. Nine members of the team qualified for the meet by placing in the top 25 of their age group at a regional qualifier meet in Garnett, KS on Sunday, November 4. Six of those runners have committed to competing in Louisville as part of the Central Missouri Athletic Circuit (CMAC) All-Stars. Those runners are: Gradon Hedberg, JR Lesher, Gretchen Marriott, Kenedee Moss, Wesley Robertson, and Kameryn Wainscott. Other regional qualifiers were: Oliver, Bohlmeyer, Sadie Bohlmeyer, and Bree Stowers.
In its second season, the Cheetahs’ team was made up of 31 area runners between 6 and 14 years of age. The team was coached by Natalie Quick-Fitzsimmons and Melissa Rish. Practices started in late August, then during the months of September and October the runners competed in six meets throughout the Mid-Missouri area. During these meets, the
Cheetahs competed against runners from Boonville, California, Columbia, Fayette, Fulton, Hallsville, Linn, Mexico, Montgomery County, Paris, Russellville, Sedalia, and Westphalia.
