Missouri Veterans Home highlights

From the week of December 2

Sunday morning church service was held in the dining room.   Special care veterans also enjoyed snack cart.

The Vietnam Group met on Monday morning.  In the afternoon, veterans enjoyed music provided by Cross My Heart Ministries.

Tuesday morning, a card game of hi/low was played.  In the afternoon, Thanksgiving bingo was played.  Special care veterans enjoyed bingo and baking in the morning.

On Wednesday morning, art class was held.  Veterans celebrating November birthdays were treated to lunch out. Pastor Iman led bible study directly after lunch.  In the afternoon, VFW & Auxiliary 2173 sponsored a birthday bingo game.  Birthday cake was served and those celebrating birthdays were recognized.

Our own barber, Matthias McManus, fried turkeys for our Thanksgiving meal. Veterans and families enjoyed a fabulous meal prepared by our dietary department.  Friday morning, a game of manipulation was played.

Saturday morning, a game of manipulation was played. In the afternoon, a movie and popcorn was the highlight.

 

And from the week of November 25

Sunday morning church service was held in the dining room.   Special care veterans also enjoyed fruit smoothies.

The Vietnam Group met on Monday morning.  In the afternoon, Rita Davidson, social services, and Cory O’Connor, dietary was recognized as the November employee and rookie of the month respectively.  Special care veterans also enjoyed crafts.

Tuesday morning, a card game of hi/low was played.  In the afternoon, Veterans’ Council met to discuss any issues that they may have.  Special care veterans enjoyed bingo and baking in the morning and a popcorn social in the afternoon.

On Wednesday morning, art class was held.  Pastor Iman led bible study directly after lunch.  In the afternoon, VFW & Auxiliary 2657 sponsored a bingo game.  Special care veterans enjoyed Lutheran service by Pastor Don Sonntag.  Later in the afternoon, a November birthday party was held.

Thursday morning, veterans enjoyed bingo. Directly after bingo, a crafts class was held in the activity room. In the afternoon, a shopping trip to Wal-Mart was enjoyed by a group of veterans.  Later in the evening, a group of veterans enjoyed bingo at Mexico VFW hall.  Special care veterans enjoyed smoothies.

Friday morning, a game of manipulation was played.  In the afternoon, Catholic communion was led by Deacon Ron Deimeke. A poker tournament was held later in the afternoon followed by a trip to the Fulton VFW for a turkey dinner.  Special Care veterans were treated to an Alzheimer’s Wrap Up party and balloon release.

Saturday morning, a game of manipulation was played.  Residents enjoyed paper airplane races in the dining room in the afternoon.  Special care veterans enjoyed dominoes and dice games.
