The first day of school at Centralia R-VI was the harbinger of a few nuggets of good news for the district, said R-VI Superintendent Darin Ford.
“This morning we were at 1402, which is about 30 up from last year for now,” he announced Monday, August 27.
Opening numbers for other area schools were:
• 1,400 for Hallsville R-IV
• 432 for Sturgeon R-V
“Everything went smoothly,” Ford said of R-VI’s opening day, “no hitches and that includes transportation. Generally if there is going to be a first-day mix-up that is where it will happen.”
Besides the increased enrollment, Ford said he had learned two more bits of good news for the district.
They involve the school roofs and employee health insurance.
