Panther wrestlers finish home season

71-6 over Chillicothe, 66-17 over Marceline

Trevor Bodine thwarts a Chillicothe wrestler who was trying to escape by going out of bounds.

The Centralia Panthers wrestling team capped off its last home meet of the season, their senior night, with a pair of wins.

They now have a 15-0 dual record.

It was almost a sweep against ChillicotherBrayden Dubes – 108 pounds; Duke Newsted – 126; Kyden Wilkerson – 132; Brayden Shelton – 138; Austin Daswon – 145; Khader Saleh – 152; Anthony Stevens – 160; Grafton Littrell – 182; Sam Lynn – 220 and Xaden Lockett – 285; all won their matches by pin. Trevor Bodine won his by major decision. Gabe Maenner – 113 and Jesse Shannon – 120, won by forfeit.

Against Marceline, Dubes, Gabe Maenner, Wilkerson, Sheldon and Littrell won by pin.

Jesse Shannon, Newsted, Dawson, Stevens, Bodine and Lockett won by forfeit.

Centralia Panthers Head Wrestling Coach Luke Gramke came away pleased.

“We won two duals for our seniors,” he said. “This was their last night in front of the home crowd and they came out on top.”

That included the Lady Panther wrestlers: Brenna Dubes – 120, McKenna Baer – 125, Tatum Phillips – 130, Averi Evans – 12 and Gretchen Marriott – 152, who won their share of matches that evening.

“They all worked hard tonight,” Gramke said. “The girls are on their way to districts this weekend at Holt High School in Wentzville. They have all shown serious improvement.”

Regarding the whole team, he said: “We’ve developed great team spirit, great team chemistry. It will make a difference.”
