Panthers double-down on Brookfield basketball

The Lady Panthers won a close one, 55-53.

After a scary first few minutes, the boys came back from a 10-0 deficit to beat Brookfield 66-50, after Centralia Head Coach Scott Humphrey emptied his bench for the last four minutes.

Mary Kate Bennett, Claire Hunter and Carter Simkins led the ladies with 10 each, followed by Gwen Bostick with nine and Chris Heimann with five.

Rylee Sensenich led the Lady Bulldogs and the game with 21.

Guy Moran led the Panthers ¬†and the game with 35, tying Peyton Davis’ record for three-point shots in a game with eight. Gus Stidham and Jackson Wells backed him up with six each, followed by Martin Yund and Davis with five each.

The boys’ record is now 15-4.

The varsity Panthers’ next game is Court warming, 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2.
