The Centralia Parks Department is planning a fun-packed July 4 celebration for those who don’t want to leave town.
Sports, shopping, pool fun, patriotism and fireworks will all be on tap from 7 a.m. to midnight at the main city park and Community Golf Course.
For those who want to start fun early, the golf course will open at 7 a.m. for golfing. Normal fees apply, said Parks Director Erle Bennett. The course will be open until 7 p.m.
“We’ve filled the day with great, inexpensive, family-friendly activities,” Bennett said. “This is an chance for people to have a great July 4 without leaving town.”
If golf takes second-place in your life to running, the morning holds a pick-me-up activity for you.
Starting 8 a.m. at the City Pool parking lot, is the Firecracker 5-K and Kids Dash. The races are sponsored by the Centralia High School cross country team and registration is available at the Centralia Recreation Center and can be turned in there, Centralia High School or the school board office.
