“6 For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah prophesied that the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Prince of Peace, our Messiah, the Savior of all humankind was going to be born as a little child.

“4 Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David, 5 to be registered along with Mary, who was engaged to him and was pregnant. 6 While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 Then she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped him tightly in cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” Luke 2:4-7

Our creator could have chosen to be born in a palace. Instead His plan was to be born in the humblest of places to show that He came for everyone. Does not matter the color of your skin, the size of you bank account, who your ancestors are, or anything else… Jesus came for you.

“8 In the same region, shepherds were staying out in the fields and keeping watch at night over their flock. 9 Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: 11 Today in the city of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be the sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped tightly in cloth and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: 14 Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people he favors! 15 When the angels had left them and returned to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go straight to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” 16 They hurried off and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the manger. 17 After seeing them, they reported the message they were told about this child,” Luke 2:8-17

The angel and heavenly hosts were so excited they burst from heaven, praising God. The shepherds saw the little child and they to praised God as they returned to their sheep.

We need to be excited about the birth of our King and share it with all who will listen.

“7 Dear friends, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10 Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:7-10

Jesus came to show us His love. He spent time sharing that love, touched countless lives, He took on all of our sins, and became the needed sacrifice. Now each one of us, every member of our families, all of our friends, and all humankind has the opportunity to spend an eternity with God.

There is a saying, “Jesus is the reason for the season.” From our perspective, we need to keep Jesus in front of us every day and especially as we celebrate Christmas. Jesus is the real reason to celebrate.

From Jesus’ perspective, He might say you are the reason for the season. He came to this earth so that He could spend eternity with you. He loves you so much that He came as a little child to pave the way for you. You are the reason He stepped out of heaven and was laid in a manger.

Jesus demonstrated His love for you, and we need to demonstrate our Love for God by following His commands and for others as we care for those in need.

As you celebrate the birth of your Savior, remember to have Hope in His love, embrace the Peace He has given you, and take Joy in knowing that He Loves You.
