Playground going up at Centralia Park

A pumpkin festival, playground upgrades and events at the Centralia Community Golf Course were on the table for the July 16 meeting of the Centralia Park Board.

New, state-of-the-art, steel and plastic, multi-colored playground equipment is being installed on the north side of the Centralia Municipal Park, by the south field, replacing the previous wooden playground equipment.

Park Director Erle Bennett said the new playground by should be complete the first week in August.

Another north side project, the pond upgrade, is now complete Bennett said. The pond will be open for fishing the summer of 2021.

In other park action, he said summer league ball is currently finished for the season, with a tournament at the end of July.

Bennett also announced the City Square Park would be hosting this year’s Pumpkin Festival, Saturday, October 19. The event is being organized by Robert Wright and Amber Freidli in conjunction with the Parks Department.
