Beneath a living room-sized flag, under a sky the color of burnt pewter, Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, addressed Boone County, and, via his friends in the news media, the rest of the country not fortunate enough to be crowded into Columbia Regional Airport Hanger 350 or the adjoining, Jumbotron-equipped overflow area.
Official estimates put the crowd at “around 5,000 in main area, and at least 1,000 in overflow on the tarmac.”
Fans came from across the state to hear their leader’s voice.
Judging by the earth-shaking applause and ear-piercing shrieks of delight, Trump did not disappoint. He criticized the people and causes his base wanted criticized and praised those thought deserving of praise.
United States Senators Claire McCaskill, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, immigrants, specifically those in the caravan and others illegal and or unskilled, the national media, Editor’s note, in this instance he did not use the phrases “enemy of the state,” or “enemy of the people” to describe the media, and Iran, were targeted during Trump’s speech.
Trump praised Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley, working women, the people of Missouri, who he called “The incredible men and women who make this country run… I like you very much.” All received presidential praise.
He called the midterms elections, “The most important in our lifetime…” a choice he said between “Unrivaled prosperity and growth,” and having “the radical Democrats wipe it all away.”
