It was a night of tasteful music and tasty food.
Saturday night, March 3, the Chester Boren Middle School gymnasium was packed with band fans as more than 200 people spent the evening enjoying performances by the Centralia R-VI band programs and bid on 92 baked items ranging from sourdough bread to double-decker pecan cheese cakes.
The 40-member fifth grade band performed two arrangements by Ryan Nowlin, the “Banana Boat Song” and “Water Music,” along with Steve Hommel’s “Dixie Two Beat.”
The 25-member sixth-grade band performed four arrangements: Jack Bullock’s “Silver Rocket,” Lew Davidson’s “Tacos and Salsa,” Jerry Burns’ “Clog Dance,” and David Gorham’s “Armada.”
The 45-member seventh- and eighth-grade band performed Robert Smith’s “Argosy,” and James Swearingen’s “Light of Dawn.”
