At least 14 people sat in the air-conditioned accommodations of the Centralia Intermediate School Library for the September 9 meeting of the Centralia R-VI School Board.
One some might consider the most far-reaching was a medicinal marijuana policy, which they passed.
Stephen Chancellor, R-VI superintendent, introduced two policies one regarding medical, marijuana in a school setting, and another regarding a drug-free workplace.
He called both “pretty straightforward and driven by state-law. I don’t see any reason to delay any longer.” The board agreed, and minus absent members, Jason Hedrick and Nathan Chitwood, unanimously approved it.
The medical marijuana policy says, in part: “Overall, the District restricts the administration of medications, including medical marijuana, unless administration cannot reasonably be accomplished outside of school hours.
