Centralia loses to Mexico 4-2
Hallsville beats Palmyra 3-2
For the Lady Panthers the Southeast wind blowing strongly across the field was pitcher’s friend and a batter’s foe.
Mexico took the board early with one run in the bottom of the first.
Centralia hit back in the top of the fourth with two, courtesy of a Mary Kate Bennet left-field single that drove in Caylin Finlay and Carter Hawkins to give Centralia the lead.
Meanwhile, Oliva Hombs’ pitching which after the first had kept Mexico at bay, continued to stymie their scoring efforts until the bottom of the sixth when Mexico scored three.
Centralia, though they had the bases loaded twice after the fourth, once with no outs, was unable to reply.
The Lady Panthers will played Palmyra, who lost 3-2 to Hallsville, 12:30 p.m. at Bicentennial Park’s West Field.
Centralia lost 6-3 to Palmyra and Hallsville lost to Mexico 9-3.
