As spring comes, so come the rains.
Speaking from the crowded aisles of LaCrosse Lumber, Denny Rusch, store manager reminded homeowners to be mindful of their gutters.
Additionally, he said, put some thought into cleaning your house’s deck and siding.
“Deck and siding, every year,” he said. “That way it is not as hard to prepare them when it is time to reseal or refinish them.”
He said annual cleaning might mean not needing a power-washer. “If you don’t clean your deck and siding every year, it can get pretty hard to get then clean enough for refinishing.”
Rusch cautioned to use the right tool for the right job.
In this instance, he said there are specific mixtures for cleaning one’s deck and specific ones cleaning siding. “You’ve got to use the right chemicals,” he said, “make no mistake.”
The most common mistake he said is not cleaning, being it gutters, decks or siding.
“Especially if it is time to finish them,” he said.
