Nearly 1,000 people joined Sturgeon R-V’s 42 graduating seniors to send the Sturgeon R-V Class of 2019 off to their futures during their May 12 commencement ceremony at Sturgeon High School.

Kate Wilson, valedictorian, Jacob Bowne, class president, retiring art teacher Sherri Pelzel, and Jennifer Campbell, language arts teacher,  as well as incoming Sturgeon High School Principal and 1999 R-V graduate were the speakers.

Wilson said she was not a native of Sturgeon “My family after a decade… Was hastily replanted here, but there’s nothing wrong with that.”

She said she had initial concerns after seeing a fight in the cafeteria the first day of her freshman year and nevertheless grew to love the Sturgeon school district.
