RAYMOND GRANVILLE (RG) LAWSON

Raymond Granville (RG) Lawson of Hallsville, 96, passed away on May 18, 2025, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mexico Missouri. He was born July 28, 1928, in Columbia MO. He was married to Shirley Pemberton of Hallsville MO on May 13, 1955.
 RG grew up in Columbia and was the oldest of 12 children. He served in the United States Army and was deployed to Korea and honorably discharged in 1953. RG spent his career working for M&M Highway Materials as a truck driver. After retirement, RG worked as a school bus driver and a volunteer at the Columbia Senior Center. He served as Vice President of the Hallsville School Board, was a Scout Master, and supported the Hallsville Little League. RG was a member of the Hallsville Masonic Lodge for over fifty years.
 RG loved spending weekends with family and friends at his family home at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was famous for his bbq and entertaining family and friends. In 2005 he and Shirley started spending winters in Mission Texas where they learned to dance. They spent many days waltzing across Texas. He and Shirley recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniver­sary.
 RG is survived by his wife Shirley and three children Grant (Betsy Ellis), Rusty Lawson, Sally Lashley (Jeffery). Five grandchildren Katelyn Wilson (Eric), Paige Hartgrove (Jerry), Kelsey Lawson (David Myers), Logan Lashley, and Jacob Lashley. Great grandchildren Sophia Mayfield, Payslie Colley, and Lawson Wilson. A celebration of RG’s life will be held at the Hallsville Community Center for his family and friends on July 13th from 11-3 with refreshments.
