MAURICE LEE ”BEN” BENSKIN

Maurice Lee “Ben” Benskin, 88, Columbia, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Ben was born in Reform, Missouri on September 30, 1936, to the late George “Bob” and Jessie Mae (Lee) Benskin. On July 30, 1961, he married Mary “Arla” Brechler in Columbia, Missouri. He served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1954-1958. Upon completing his service, he embarked on a career exceeding 35 years at McGlasson Distributing, where he served as the business manager.
Ben was active in the local community. He served on the Hallsville School Board for 6 years and attended many school activities and sporting events. He served his church, New Liberty Primitive Baptist church in many ways. He was a member of the Hallsville Lions Club. He was proud to be a member of the American Legion, Post #202 in Columbia for many years including serving as the 2nd Vice Commander. But most of all, Ben adored his family. His favorite duties were of Husband, Dad, and Papa.
Ben is survived by his wife, Arla; son, Jim Benskin (Jessica Stafford); daughter, Roxanne Lambert (Mike); and four grandchildren, William Stafford, Jason Stafford, Jessica Lambert, and Jacob Lambert.
Ben was also preceded in death by two siblings, Robert Benskin, Jr and Marie Millard.
Memorial contributions are suggested to The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri in Ben’s honor, c/o Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, 1610 N. Garth Ave., Columbia, MO 65202.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Park Lane Community Church, 11700 N Route B, Hallsville, Missouri with Elder John Anderson officiating. Family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 p.m. until time for the service. Burial will follow the service at the Auxvasse Cemetery, Auxvasse, Missouri.
