An audience of nine listened to the Centralia’s Board of Aldermen September 19 multi-meeting.
The event consisted of meetings of the General Government and Public Safety Committee, the Public Works and Public Utilities Committee as well as the full board of aldermen.
Aldermen Don Rodgers, Ward II and David Wilkins Ward I, were absent.
The meeting started with Public Works and Public Services Committee issues. Linda Bormann expressed concern regarding the condition of the railroad crossing near Hickman Street. Streets supervision Phil Hoffmann said he had spoken to the railroad about it.
The issue of stray cats was also brought up.
Chief of the Centralia Police Department Harlan Hatton said the Humane Society will, starting in January, refuse to take healtly cats. “That ads another level of complexity to the problem,” Ward II’s Robert Hudson said regarding citizens’ concerns over stray cats.
