More than 250 entries have been received for the 60th Annual Boone County Art Show this weekend. Central Bank of Boone County (CBBC) and the Columbia Art League (CAL) are celebrating 60 years of community art Saturday, October 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday October 20 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The largest art show in Mid-Missouri, the show is unique for two reasons. First, because it is not juried so anything that is entered is displayed in the show. Second, the show features both professional and non-professional artists. The entire first floor of CBBC at 8th and Broadway is transformed into an art gallery Friday night so the public can enjoy the artwork beginning Saturday morning.
On Sunday at 4:30 p.m. cash prizes are awarded to artists for first, second and third place in nine categories, including professional and non-professional painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, fiber and other media such as collage, constructions, etchings and mixed media. A “People’s Choice Award” is also voted on by the public over the weekend.
