A good deed — Chester Boren Middle School Student Commission, Builder’s Club and Honor Club all gave CBMS students a Penny War Challenge in the last week of October. Students raised donations for the hurricane victims in North Carolina. As part of the students’ five character traits - productivity, respect, integrity, dependability and empathy - students focused on empathy that week. The students realized the need to help others extends past their school walls and their own community. They had several community organizations who also pitched in and supported the cause. CBMS students raised $1,307. CBMS staff matched with $1,320 for a total of $2,627. “I’m so proud of our students, but more, I am proud that our students have such kind hearts,” CBMS Principal Katie Patton said. CBMS photo.
