GARY WAYNE FLICK

Gary Wayne Flick, 78, of Centralia, passed away at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico.
 Services will be held at Pickering Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Visitation will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm with the funeral service beginning at 2 pm with the Rev. Bryce Kristofferson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
 Gary was born November 27, 1946, to Darold and Marjorie (Olebeare) Flick of Mexico. He married Janet Irene Jones Farris on September 10, 2000, in Columbia. He was previously married to Rhonda Kropf (1969 to 1998). He was a member of the First Christian Church of Mexico.
 Gary was a 1964 graduate of Mexico High School, and a proud member of the MHS 1964 State Championship Golf Team. He had a passion for golf and he continued playing until the age of 76. Gary graduated from the University of Missouri in 1968 where he earned a degree in Journalism with a minor in American History. While in school, Gary worked for Panhandle.
 Gary was inducted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army after four years of ROTC in college and served in Korea. He was promoted to the rank of Captain during his time of military service. After returning home, his career pursuits took him down several avenues. He served as a plant supervisor at A.P. Green, worked in sales and market­ing with various pest control and lawn care companies, and at the Centralia Fireside Guard three separate periods of time, and ultimately spent several years as the general manager at the Centralia Fireside Guard until his retirement. He enjoyed using his journalism skills to cover the area sports teams.
 An avid fisherman, Gary loved fishing with friends and family. He also enjoyed quail hunting, and gardening. As a lifelong sports fan, he especially loved watching (and chair coaching) Miz­zou sports and the Kansas City Chiefs.
 In addition to his wife Janet, survivors include one daughter, Whitney Suzanne Foyil (Terry) of Boonville and one step-son, Andy Farris (Cindy), of Columbia and two step-daughters, Amy Justice (Tony), of Harrisburg, and Susan Fleming (Sam), of Lakewood Colorado and his brother, Roger Flick (Penny) of Jacksonville, Florida and Roger’s children, Andy and Lisa. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James F. “Fred” Jones (Janet), of Mexico, Kenneth W. Jones (Jane), Centennial, Colorado, and David Stull, Jefferson City, Teresa Brightwell, of Mexico, and Wilma Jenks (Dar­rell), of Norman, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren, Kevin (Lauren) Farris, Bradley (Joslyn) Farris, Jason Farris, Jessica Justice, Russell (Jess) Justice, Michael (Gabriella) Justice, Jarod Justice, Jeremy (Kyla) Jus­tice, Ryan Fleming, and Jack Fleming; 8 great grandchildren, Archer and Nell Farris, Kaylee Farris, Kira Justice, Kayden Justice, Christopher, Jacob, and Oliver Justice, and twin babies on the way.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Joe E. and Nellie Jones, sister-in-law, Wanda Stull, brother-in-law, Michael Brightwell, and grandsons, Christopher Jus­tice and Thomas Justice.
