SANDRA JEAN TRASK

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sandra Jean Trask of Centralia, MO on May 10, 2025. Sandra was 80 years old. A combined Celebration of Life service will be held on June 13, 2025 at Centralia United Methodist Church for both Sandy and her husband Bob who passed on March 23 of this year. Sandy and Bob had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together in February 2025.
Sandy was born in Flat River, MO, the daughter of Goldman and Alma (Wolf) Burns. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she graduated with both her bachelor’s and her Master’s Degrees in Education with summa cum laude honors. Her first teaching job was in Jamestown, MO, but she soon moved to Centralia and spent several decades teaching business courses at Centralia High School prior to her retirement. Her former students and fellow teachers remember her fondly as being a kind and thoughtful person; she has received many letters from former students over the years who have thanked her for believing in and supporting them. Sandy was an active member of Centralia United Methodist Church where she had many long-time friends who will miss her greatly. Sandy loved music and sang and played the piano beautifully. She was an avid reader who enjoyed mystery novels and movies. Her favorite activity was being with family and friends. She was a supportive wife, cherished parent, much-loved sister and a very proud grandparent who made the people and community around her a better place with her loving heart, sharp mind, and sly sense of humor. She had a deep and abiding faith in God and worked hard to be a contributing member of her faith community.
Sandy is survived by her son Ryan Trask of Columbia, her daughter Lisa Slap and Lisa’s husband Ted of Chesterfield, and her grandsons Andrew Trask and Andy Slap. Sandy’s sisters, Janet Polk of St. Peters, MO and Barbara March of Oklahoma City, OK also survive her.
Memorial donations in Sandra Trask’s name to benefit the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) may be sent in care of Centralia United Methodist Church, 715 South Orchard Street, Centralia, MO 65240. Please note “UMCOR/Sandra Trask” in the memo.
