Bicycling to raise money for the Ministerial Alliance
A local group is holding a bike-a-thon to raise funds for the Centralia Ministerial Alliance and to give young people something fun and healthy to do.
Centralia Masonic Lodge members Bob Green and Charlie Parker are organizing a Bike-a-thon, Saturday, October 3 at Centralia’s City Park.
“The Centralia Ministerial Alliance helps a lot of people with their utilities and such,” Green said. “With fall coming they will be helping more people make it through the cold weather.”
“We wanted to have something outside, so people could enjoy it without having to worry as much about the Coronavirus,” Green said.
The route is 3.5 miles around Centralia and participants can ride it as many times as they want between 8 a.m and noon. “It will be fun for the young people, and there will be some older ones riding too,” Green said. “Helmets are mandatory though. I have ridden a lot, on bicycles and motorcycles and accidents do happen. Anything can happen when you’re riding and helmets help prevent brain damage.
Participants can raise money for the event by picking up a sponsor sheet at their church or at the Lodge’s pick up box at 690 North Jefferson Street.
The event is also sponsord by the Order of the Eastern Star and Rainbow Girls.
