A new church is growing in Centralia
There is a new church in town.Currently Refuge Church Centralia meets 10 a.m., Sunday at The Book and Bean.The church’s first service was held 10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 7, in the back yard of Pastor Jerry Patton and his wife Katie’s home south of Centralia.Twenty one people attended.Since then, the congregation has met, every Sunday at the Book and Bean, but Patton says they are growing and are looking for a brick and mortar location they can call home.

Veterans remember MIAs, commemorate MIA/KIA Day in Centralia
The sound of a Kylee Motley singing the “Star Spangled Banner,” followed by the heart-rending sound of Brenda Kehl playing “Taps,” on her trumpet echoed around the intersection of Rodney Griffin Boulevard and West Singleton the afternoon of Friday, September 19 on Centralia’s west side. A few more than a dozen people gathered at the intersection for one of Centralia’s longer-running, but less well-known traditions.

Steve George is retiring from a life of professional, community service
After more than 20 years of guiding people through the wilds of the market, Steve George, one of the mainstays of the Northern Boone-Western Audrain County financial services industry and founder of the local Edward Jones office, has retired.

The final flight for Central Missouri Honor Flight takes off Monday, Sept. 15
Central Missouri Honor Flight (CMHF) will be flying its final flight on Monday, September 15. After 16 years, the mission for CMHF will come to an end with Honor Flight #71. No more flights will be scheduled through this Missouri honor flight hub.
