No Room for God
Reverend David Hartgrove Pastor Crossroads Cathedral, Assembly of God In part of the Christmas story found in the book of Luke, Chapter 2 and verses 1-7, we find a very sad statement and a very happy statement. The happy statement found in verse 7 tells us that Jesus was born to a virgin by the name of Mary. The sad statement is that there was no room in the inn. The room that Jesus was in was either a cave or a lean to shelter. Jesus was born in basically in a barn and he was placed in a manager. All because no room could be found for Mary to give birth. Someone pointed out to me the other day that if Joseph and Mary were coming back to the home of Joseph's family, why didn't some of his family make room? At first, I was kind of stumped by that question. Then I remembered that since Mary was a virgin and yet with child, having not known a man, perhaps even family wasn't interested in extending kindness and compassion. That is just speculative of course. The fact remains however that there was no room for the Son of God, no room for His Mother, no room for his adopted Father, Joseph.
