An audience of five attended the December 18 meeting of the Centralia Board of Aldermen and listened to the aldermen make public safety appointments and discuss recycling.

One highlight of the evening was the aldermen’s appointment of Steve Kennemore, a CPD former officer and former captain of the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office as a part time CPD officer.

They also appointed Braeden Russell to the Centralia Fire Department.

Both appointments received unanimous votes of approval, minus Aldermen Lonnie Cox, Ward III and David Wilkins, Ward I, who were absent.

Regarding recycling now provided for city residential customers, City Administrator Tara Strain said there were two options for businesses who wanted to participate: setting it out on the first and third Fridays, and pay a fee to Daynes for recycling pickup, or rent a dumpster from Daynes and pay a fee.
