‘Return to its roots’
Representatives of the Centralia Area Chamber of Commerce are rolling out plans for this year’s Centralia Anchor Festival.
Selestia Angell, chamber board member and Hilary Filimonuk – chamber president, unveiled the chamber’s plans for the 2023 Anchor Fest to an audience of 23 members of the Centralia Kiwanis Club over lunch, April 13 at the Friendship Place.
This year’s Anchor Fest, June 2-4 on the Centralia Square, will return to its 1987 roots, they said and celebrate the Chance Company and its modern incarnation, Hubbell Power Systems and its Centralia Employees.
Angell and Filimonuk said the chamber is working with local Hubbell executives to achieve that goal.
That, she said, could include job recruitment as well as equipment displays and demonstrations.
“We want to bring Anchor Fest back to its roots. When this first started back in 1987, the original intent was to celebrate what was then A.B. Chance Company and their employees.
This year, we are lucky enough to partner with Hubbell and rebrand it as ‘Centralia Anchor Festival, Presented by Hubbell Power Systems.’ They will have a much bigger part in the weekend, including choosing Friday’s parade…
