Centralia High School baseball hosted Macon last Tuesday losing 2-1 in a pitchers’ duel. Centralia’s Jackson Wells worked his way out of a bases loaded situation in the first inning. He set down the Tigers in order in the second before giving up a two-run double in the third inning.
Macon’s Chrisjen Riekeberg set down the first 10 batters before Kile Chitwood drew a walk. Riekeberg took a no-hitter through five innings. Centralia’s Andrew Hinds singled to lead off the sixth inning. He went from first to third on a sacrifice bunt by Ethan Adams. Hinds scored on a
single by Lane Mathews to cut the lead to 2-1.
On Thursday at Mexico, Lane Mathews doubled leading off the first inning, went to third on a ground ball and scored on a wild pitch. The 1-0 lead held until the third when Mexico plated three runs. Centralia cut the score to 3-2 in the top of the fourth, but Mexico scored three in the bottom of the fourth and added three more in the fifth to make the score 9-2.
