Lady Panthers win 56-45 in overtime, boys win 71-41
It was a good night to be a Centralia Panther in South Shelby.
The boys’s and girls’ varsity teams headed north the night of December 17 and returned home with a pair of wins.
The Lady Panthers led the first two quarters: 13-11 and 24-20. Then South Shelby caught them in the third, taking the lead, 34-33. Centralia took the game back but South Shelby tied the game at 45 with a last moment three pointer.
Centralia finished on top though. They spend the next four overtime minutes scoring, while keeping South Shelby off the board and finished with a 56-45 win.
Morgan Ross and Baylee Beard led Centralia with 15 each. Jozelynn Bostick backed them up with 12 and Harper Sontheimer with six.
The boys game was straightforward. Especially for Centralia which dominated all four quarters.
They led 18-14 in the first, 37-24 at halftime, 52-33 in the third and finished them off, 71-44.
Kile Chitwood led Centralia with 17 points, backed up by Jackson Wells with 15 and Beau Gordon with 12. Grant Irishman’s 11, gave Centralia four players in double digits.
Centralia plays next, Monday night in Moberly.
