Centralia loses pair to Palmyra

Monday night, December 30 it was the battle of the Panthers at Centralia High School’s Jim Enlow Court.

For the fans of the black and white, the wrong team came out on top.

Jackson Wells overruns a Palmyra defender as he scores.

Visting Palmyra won the boys’ and girls’ games.

Centralia’s Lady Panthers lost 68-42.

The boys lost 60-41.

Palmyra led all four quarters: 21-8 at the end of the first; 34-22 at halftime; 59-34 at the end of the third  and 68-42 at the final buzzer.

Mary Kate Bennett led Centralia with 13 points, support by Baylee Beard with nine and Joella Melegrito with seven.

Megan Stone led Palmyra with 23.

On the boys side of the score book, Centralia kept it close in the first quarter and finished just three points behind Palmyra. The first quarter ended with Palmyra ahead, 18-15.

From there, Palmyra gradually pulled away, leading 33-25 at halftime and 41-31 at the end of the third and 60-41 at the buzzer.

Dallas Lewis led Centralia with 12 points, supported by Jackson Wells with nine and Nic Brooks with eight.

Jayden Durst led Palmyra with a game-high 19.
