Panthers lose, 20-16
Score by quarters,

One observer put it this way: “The game was fought in the trenches. Mexico has vastly improved. The sophomores that played last season are now experienced juniors. The game was competitive and hard hitting. An untimely turnover for Centralia was a factor. Ball control for both teams shortened the game. Halftime adjustments bot both coaches made big differences. Both teams will improve from this game.”
Stats-wise Centralia’s offense rushed for 232 yards compared to Mexico’s 246. Centralia passed for 232 yards to Mexico’s two yards. Neither team had an interception.
Centralia’s offense out-gained Mexico, 297 yards to 248, but had three fumbles to Mexico’s one.
Rex Bryson scored Centralia’s first touchdown in the first quarter with a seven yard rush. Deke Maenner plunged up the middle for the two-point conversion.
Bryson scored Centralia’s last touchdown in the third, with a wide 20-yard scimitar run around the west side. Drayden Conde scored the two point conversion.
“Fundamentals, we just need to work on fundamentals, we need to block better, hold onto the football better,” Centralia Panthers Head Coach Tyler Forsee said afterward. “We don’t need to rescript a whole bunch of stuff, we just need to work on our fundamentals.”
Next Friday night Centralia hosts Hallsville 7 p.m. at Miller Field while Mexico travels to Southern Boone.
