Centralia Panthers play Mexico in district semi-finals

Panthers lose to Mexico, 51-36

Wednesday night the sun set on the Centralia High School Panthers basketball season when the boys’ team lost to Mexico, 51-36 in the district 8 semi-finals on CHS’ Jim Enlow Court.

At times the Panthers came within three points of Mexico, but the Bulldogs won every quarter.

Mexico led 16-8 at the end of the first quarter, 26-18 at halftime and 41-21 at the end of the third.

“They young players, Rosenfelder, Bennett and Webb, kept Centralia in the game that third quarter,” said one observer.

Logan Rosenfelder led Centralia with 11 points, Grant Erisman and Cullen Bennett scored eight and Noah Brooks, six.

Isaiah Reams and Daeye Miller led Mexico, Miller with 15, Reams with 14.

Mexico plays Macon for the championship 1 p.m., Saturday March 5 at Centralia.
