Boys win, 57-43; Lady Panthers lose, 50-44
Friday night was a good night to watch some basketball at Centralia High School’s Jim Enlow Court in Centralia.
Though they lost, Centralia’s Lady Panthers showed you cannot keep a good team down.
And they Centralia boys team showed they knew how to take advantage of momentum and keep a lead firmly in hand.
The boys team led the whole game: 19-6 at the end of the first quarter; 30-21 at halftime, 48-29 at the end of the third, before finishing Clark County, 57-43.
Jackson Wells led the Panthers with 15 points, followed by Grant Erisman with 14 and Nathan Greene with eight.
Sam Wheeler led Clark County with 12.
On the girls side, thought they started out dominant for the first four minutes, the Lady Panthers finished the first quarter down four points behind Clark County 13-9. The lead spread from there. Clark County led at halftime, 30-16 and kept it up to win the third quarter, 37-21.
Despite Centralia closing the gap to four points several times in the fourth, Clark County finished the game on top, 50-44.
Baylee Beard led Centralia with a game-high 15 points, followed by Harper Sontheimer with 11 and Jozelynn Bostick with nine.
Kiara Brunk led Clark County with 13.
Centralia plays Monday night in Macon. Tuesday night the girls play at Battle High School and the boys will play at Warrenton on Wednesday.
