It is official.
The Centralia Parks Department is planning to add another park to Centralia.
Park Board President Phil Hulen and Parks Director Erle Bennett have announced the department’s intent to purchase a three-acre lot in Centralia’s Northeast quarter, near the intersection of Ann and Fairway Streets for a park to serve that area of the city.
Bennett said he has begun writing grant applications to fund the purchase and building of a planned playground along with equipping the approximately 2,400 square foot shed that accompanies the lot. He will begin evaluating two appraisals of the property as well.
This is another step in culminating something dreamed of by Mike Kinkead at least eight years ago, Bennett said.
